Wall inside Bethlehem

Wall inside Bethlehem (in West Bank)

“In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.”

Psalm 4:8

Peace and safety is an issue nowadays.  Is it right to want a peaceful and quiet life?  Is it right to desire a safe place to dwell?   Would that all the world were a safe haven, but such is not the case.

The role of good government is to be “an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.” (Roman 13:4)   It is the role of soldiers, sheriffs, policeman and our civil leaders to protect citizens from criminals, terrorism and fits of rage.  May we help through prayers.

1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.  (1 Timothy 2)

It is pleasing to God to have a peaceful and quiet life!   YHWH-Shalom, the God of peace, is over your life if you are in Christ!

A good man wants safety for his family.  His nature is to protect!   He cares and defends the woman and children from evil.

Nehemiah was a Godly man, a good man.  He saw that the walls around Jerusalem needed to be rebuilt.

“I went out by night by the Valley Gate to the Dragon Spring and to the Dung Gate, and I inspected the walls of Jerusalem that were broken down and its gates that had been destroyed by fire.”  (Nehemiah 2:13)

He gathered the rebuilders and they “each kept his weapon at his right hand” so as not to be taken off guard by their enemies.  There was much opposition to the wall from Sanballat and the army of Samaria.  They tried to dissuade the rebuilders.  But a wall was built and it was done courageously!

Someday there will be peace on earth.  “Thy Kingdom come.”  When the Prince of Peace is reigning there shall be no violence.

“Violence shall no more be heard in your land, devastation or destruction within your borders; you shall call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise.”   Isaiah 60:8

In the meantime, we need valiant men and women to protect their country from terrors, both within and without.

The song says, “It can’t be wrong, when it feels so right.”  Persuasive but not true.

The lusts of the flesh and a carnal mind jump to agree with the spirit of seduction encouraging pre-marital sex contrary to the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.

Then sin is compounded when evil persuades women to abort their babies conceived out of wedlock by telling them that there exists within the womb only a bunch of cells that can be conveniently discarded.   Evil shouts, “You have a right to all the sex you want!  You have a right to abort!”

Having been an eyewitness at the Austin Capitol this month to the events regarding the bill to protect babies in the womb from abortion, I can say that evil had sway over many of the pro-abortion, pro-lust, pro-licentiousness crowd.  Their rude, crude signs were vulgar and spoke volumes as to who was the chief instigator behind them.  Some even chanted “Hail, satan!”.  Their own words reveal their evil influence!   I can’t even repeat the vulgarities on their signs,  some even blasphemous regarding the LORD Jesus Christ.  Yes, many want illicit sex without the inconvenient consequence of babies.

Interestingly, many of those pro-abortion anarchists were also very, very tattooed.

Since many in the cult of lawlessness are flaunting tattoos, it makes me very suspect indeed as to what the enemy is doing.   And now some in the Church are condoning tattoos?   Is the Church being influenced by the lawless culture rather than being salt in the world?   What is the enemy up to?   As always, some pernicious persuasion!   It’s worked effectively since the Garden of Eden!

We all have fallen for some pernicious persuasion in some area, at some time.  We are all guilty.   I have fallen for it in regrettable ways.  So now, having experienced such evil deceptions, but moreover having received the grace of God for repentance, restoration and deliverance,  I would warn those younger in the faith of the wily ways of the enemy who seeks to kill and destroy.

This is not to condemn or judge any individual who may have been naive or foolish or uneducated.    God will forgive repentant ones their abortions through the blood of Christ.  And God will forgive repentant ones their tattoos covered in the spirit by the blood of the Lamb, although the ink is indelible on the flesh!  But while God  does forgive,  GOD DOES NOT CONDONE SIN IN ANY FORM!

So it saddens me that some leaders in the Church are now condoning this pagan practice.  Why are they not more discerning of the evil promoting this pagan practice?  Tattoos have historically been considered sinful in the Church.  It is only relatively recently that this fad has been condoned by some pastors.  Church leaders should preach the Word on any issue, not yield to popular culture!   Why the compromise?   Do some want to justify their own indiscretions?   Are some afraid of losing tithes or offending an audience?  Why is this issue even being debated in the Church when for so long hardly anyone disagreed with the Word of God on it?  What is the enemy up to?   Pernicious persuasion as always!

Now let’s compare the six words “nor tattoo any marks on you” (Lev. 19:28) to the six words “thou shalt not eat of it” (Gen  2:17) given to Adam.   Both are seemingly simple commands.   Yet Adam fell due to pernicious persuasion.  He ate of that tree, deciding for himself what was good rather than leaving that determination of good and evil in the domain of His Creator.

Our Creator spoke “six words” against tattoos relegating it to a pagan practice.   But the enemy wants people to doubt that God meant what He said.  A few words on a subject should not negate the words, if the meaning is clear.

Yet the six words “nor tattoo any marks on you” (Lev. 19:28) of the LORD seems not  enough to convince everyone that the LORD does not want His people to get a tattoo.  But there are actually more Scriptural arguments against this pagan practice.  See )

The Church generally has recognized some sins when there is not even one word in the Bible forbidding its practice.  For example,  “Ouija boards” are not mentioned in the Bible.   But most leaders I hope would agree it’s sinful and dangerous coming under the general heading of witchcraft.    God’s people perish for lack of knowledge.  If one is not aware that “Ouija boards” are a vehicle for demonic activity and a form of practicing witchcraft, then one might think it was okay to do.  But pastors should be warning their congregants of evil and current cultural pitfalls.  Witchcraft is so insidious.  It is sinful yet many do not discern it always, when it comes disguised as an angel of light or a chant in a popular children’s book.

Likewise, many are not aware of the pagan roots of tattoos.  You certainly wouldn’t find it sanctioned in our Judaic heritage!  Tattoos originated with pagan blood covenant rituals.  Oh, but one argues that is no longer the case today.   How sly is the evil one!  What a liar!

I once used a chant because I was not aware that it was calling on a demonic entity.  I was perniciously persuaded that the chant would put me in rhythm with the universe!   I was young and naive and bought the lie.   Even though I had been born-again as a child, I had no good working knowledge of God’s Word and His holy instructions back then.  I was an easy target to dupe.   How I cringe now to think I was unknowingly praising a demon!

The enemy can’t touch the born-again spirit hidden in Christ.  He does, however, trick us in the mind, persuading us to do things with our bodies to praise him or dishonor God.  He is stealing the praise that belongs only to God.   He is defiling the Church in this world, but HalleluYAH!  – the devil has no access to our born-again spirits hidden in Christ and seated in the heavenly places!

Now the devil doesn’t usually come up to people and say, “Come on. Let’s do some evil today.”   Rather, he subtly persuades us that evil is good.  He asks the same old question, “Has God really said…?”

Has God really said that it is wrong for a man to lie with another man?  Yes, He has called it an ABOMINATION!  A devil persuades people that it is all right to have homosexual relationships because that’s how “God made them.”  Sorry, God didn’t make them that way.  The devil perverted them that way through incest or abuse or some other access.

A devil persuades one to think that any religion is as good as the next.   Yet there is only one way to the Father: through faith in the Messiah, Jesus Christ!

A devil will persuade many that is all right to take the mark of the beast.  After all, everyone is doing it and there will be a very practical reason for it.   Is this surge of tattoos preparing a society to accept being branded?

So has God really said not to get  a tattoo?  Yes!

As one who was delivered from Babylon, New Age, and pseudo-Buddhism, I am more familiar with witchcraft than maybe your average American Christian.   I  recognize that tattoos come under the spirit of witchcraft and rebellion.    That is why I adamantly speak out against them.    The devil’s tactic is to take an inch and then a mile.   You can see that in every area of our society where there has been a downward spiral into immorality.

The enemy is marking his people and unfortunately some of God’s.  Tattooed bodies will die.  But, thank God, that the enemy cannot touch or kill “the spirits of just men made perfect”,  those who have the seal of the Holy Ghost!  (Heb 12:23)

But that is NOT justification to condone something which GOD told His people NOT to do!  It just demonstrates God is merciful.  Forgive the sinner.  Preach the word against sin.

May the teachers in the Church, who are called to a higher accountability, come under the conviction of the Holy Ghost instead of the seduction of political correctness.  May they be more willing to please a holy God  than mortal man.   May we act and preach with the discernment to spot the enemy’s pernicious persuasion  knowing that “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”  (2 Tim 3:16)

“For what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness?”  (2 Cor 6:14)

There is a strategic fight going on in Texas this month.  The bill that was passed and then declared dead because of the anarchists at the Capitol last week are at it again.  Please be in intercession for this bill to protect life to pass in Texas and then in other states.  I imagine it will be a battle everywhere as the devil wants to hold onto gained ground.  Satan is hungry for the blood of the innocents.

If you weren’t sure before with whom you were aligning yourself regarding the Texas bill to protect babies after 20 weeks from pain in the womb through abortion, I will give you your choices having been an eyewitness to the events in Austin over this Monday & Tuesday (July 1st & 2nd):

The orange, pro-infanticide group included those who were chanting “Hail satan!”; dancing in demon-possessed frenzies; paid agitators; people recruited by Move On; young wayward women who want the government to stay out of their personal lives on one hand yet want the government to fund their promiscuity with birth control and abortifacients; anarchists who make such a ruckus as to drown out any voice or vote that does not agree with them; and generally rude, crude and angry people with whom it is nearly impossible to have a civilized discussion.

The blue, pro-life groups were well-mannered, orderly, respectful and prayerful.

The choice:

anarchy, lawlessness & death

civility, righteousness & life.

The choice:  satan’s kingdom or the Kingdom of God.

The difference between BLUE and ORANGE is as different as BLACK & WHITE!

If this orange pro-infanticide crowd is allowed to have their way in Texas over the many voices of the sane, then lawlessness will be entrenched.

Please pray for the deliverance of the babies from death and the deliverance of the many young people who have been duped and recruited by the devil in his death and destruction campaign.   My heart was so grieved for these lost souls.  God created them to bring glory to Him and they are bound in the vile kingdom of darkness.   Surely, a Christian’s heart must cry out for their souls to be delivered!  Please put your hands on their photos and cry out to the throne of God for their salvation!  Nothing is too difficult for our LORD!  He is mighty to save!

“I call heaven and earth as witness this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live:”  (Deut 30:19)

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood…”  (Lev 17:11)

The heart is beating and the blood is flowing by day 22 after conception!

Psalm 2:1-6

Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
“Let us burst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”

He Who sits in the heavens laughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.
Then He will speak to them in His wrath,
and terrify them in His fury, saying,
“As for Me, I have set My King
on Zion, My holy hill.”

So the liberals and the liberal media are gloating over their supposed victory – an election bought with corruption, fraud, bribes, and propaganda.

He Who sits in the Heavens laughs!

I had a flashback this morning to the movie “The Passion”.   In the scene where Jesus was carrying the cross, Satan walked behind the crowd sneering and gloating because he thought that he had triumphed by his own crafty devices over the Anointed One.   Jesus was beaten, bloody and on His way to a horrid crucifixion.    But in reality, the cross was the necessary path to victory – victory not for the devil but for God and mankind!  Here, in weakness and death to self was birthed the victory!  The Lamb was to be slain, but He was slain from the foundations.  It had always been the Father’s plan.

So the unrepentant lawless ones are gloating.   They have and will continue to shake their fists at God Almighty right up until they are banished to hell.   But Jesus WILL come again, this time in majesty to deliver His Covenant People and to judge evil.  That’s been the Father’s plan all along.  Jesus will then separate the goats from His sheep.  (Matt 25:31-33)

Just as there are two flocks in the world, one of sheep and one of goats, there are two Israels: one God’s covenant people of faith in the Messiah and the other a counterfeit, “a synagogue of Satan”, “who say that they are Jews but are not”.  (Rev 2:9)

This last election drives home the fact that there are also two Americas. One is that of God-fearing people submitted to their Creator and His laws.   The other is lawless Babylon with the elite godless usurpers lording over slaves who sold their souls for cheap tokens and empty promises.

I believe God will deliver and “keep” His people in God-fearing heartland America on the basis of His faithfulness and His Word (Rev 3:10).

On the other hand, that left hand,  Babylon can only expect judgment.

We are living through the book of Revelation, and things are escalating.  The hurricane of God’s judgment is upon the earth.  We can be devastated or ride out the storm within the calmness of the eye.  God says, “Come out of her [Babylon] my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues.”  (Rev. 18:4)  Come out of the dead, idolatrous “churches” preaching false “doctrines of man” instead of the Word of God; pull your  children out of the socialist schools; and pull your money, as much as is possible, out of banks and businesses that are supporting iniquity and a godless system.

Fill your lamps with oil – that means get filled with the Holy Spirit!    (Matt 25:1-13)  Help God’s persecuted people.  (Matt 25:35-40) Bless the Israel of God.  Read Matthew 24 and 25.   Read the book of Revelation.  Read this also:

The goats are doomed.  The Good News is that Jesus invites you to follow Him.  All it takes to be a sheep is a willing heart to trust and follow the Good Shepherd.  Jesus Christ is the King of Kings and the ONLY Savior of this world!   Cry out to Him before it is too late!

War of the Worlds

There is a war going on out there, OUTSIDE.  Bill O’Reilly calls it the “culture war,” and that is a factor. (Pun intended.)  But the war is HUGE, a matter of life and death.  It is a war for the souls of men.  It is a War of the Worlds.  The war is raging throughout the earth because the earth is the last battleground.   But this war has an ending, and we can know who wins. (Read Revelation)  The final battle  will determine the outcome, but the outcome has already been determined by the only One who can win.

For now, the two kingdoms are clashing.  But the “domain of darkness” will soon be overcome by the Kingdom of Light. (Col 1:12-13)  Light always forces out darkness.  God spoke, then light appeared.  This very God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of the Holy Bible, the ONE TRUE God whose name is YHWH, YAHshua, Jesus Christ,  He reigns now and forever!  His Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom!  Jesus Christ is LORD!  Our prayer should be His prayer, “Thy Kingdom come!  Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”  (Matt 6:10)  Sadly, the world is, for the most part, in rebellion to their Creator, the King of the Universe.  God’s will will be done on the earth. The Kingdom of Light, His dominion reigns!

The LORD, has defined His Kingdom as one “of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”  (Romans 14:17)  Sounds like a perfect place!  Do you anticipate heaven’s perfect reign on the earth?  Will you be a part of His righteous kingdom?  Will you enjoy its peace?  Will you enter it’s joy?

More to come….

Should a Christian….?

One of the jobs of the priesthood in the Bible was to teach God’s “people the difference between the holy and the common, and to show them how to distinguish between the unclean and the clean.” (Eze 44:23) The LORD gives honor to “the consecrated priests, the sons of Zadok, who did not go astray when the people of Israel went astray, as the Levites did.” (Eze 48:11) Today we have many church leaders who are not preaching the whole Word of God, not teaching the difference between the holy and the common, perhaps in ignorance, or perhaps in order not to offend anyone.

But “am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man?” (Gal 1:10)

Some may be upset by this article. I am not trying to please man but to Scripturally answer a question. “Should a Christian get a tattoo?” This article is not confined to, but it does speak to that specific issue. Perhaps, though, the principles may be well applied to other areas of concern by helping one to rightly divide the Word of God. Maybe it will help you answer your own question: “Should a Christian…..?”

When I first was delivered out of the cult that I had been in for almost ten years, there were a lot of things that I did, not knowing that I shouldn’t. I actually went back to a cult meeting and was chanting with them. I knew I didn’t need to chant any longer but I hadn’t yet realized the inherent evil in it. It only took that one time, though. The LORD convicted me. I came to understand that this was NOT a practice I should continue if I wanted to please the LORD.

There are actually Christian denominations that practice a form of chanting. This is NOT God’s way. Yet, it is advocated by some churches. The rosary as an example. Now, there are many sincere, devout Christians practicing the rosary. I do NOT judge their sincerity, nor their motives, nor their heart, nor even their love for God. However, the rosary is a pagan practice at its root. For example, counting beads are used in some sects of Buddhism. But is there any mention of the rosary in the Scriptures? To the contrary, Jesus cautioned just before He gave the LORD’s prayer as a model, that we should not use “vain repetitions as the heathen do.” (Matthew 6:7) Is not the rosary a “vain repetition”?

There are plenty of models for prayer in the Scriptures. The psalms of David particularly show an honest, heartfelt communication with the Father. That is in stark contrast to repeating the same phrases over and over fifty times! Is God deaf? However, some think they are pleasing the Father by saying a rosary. While the Father does graciously look on the heart, should we not seek to worship Him in the manner He has prescribed? God equates loving Him with obeying Him. (1 John 5:3) He wants us to worship Him “in spirit and in truth.”

Jesus did NOT tell the women at the well (John 4:19-26) that their Samaritan way of worship was acceptable. They had set up their own version of Judaism in Samaria. They were doing it their way. They were probably quite sincere. But they were sincerely wrong. Jesus told her plainly, “You worship what you do not know”. (John 4:22) Does this statement mean that they were not even in fact worshipping the God of Israel by doing it their own way? “You worship what you do not know…. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:24) God wants us to worship sincerely but also in line with His Word, the Truth.

So if something is specifically forbidden in the Scripture, should we think that it is all right to use that as worship? That would not be in truth!

So let’s get back to tattoing. Some Christians have tattooed their bodies with Scripture. They have done this zealously, maybe meaning to glorify God. But is this what God asked them to do? Did the Holy Spirit lead them, was it a part of their culture, or did they think it was cool?

This is NOT written to judge anyone, but to point out to others who might consider tattooing that it is NOT something that Christians SHOULD do. I once said the rosary zealously and in sincerity. Now that I know better, I will not.

Some might quote Leviticus 21:5 as an argument against tattooing. It may not be a strong argument as its context is priests and death rituals. (Although we as Christians are a holy priesthood and should also be held to a higher standard, which is a principle in this passage.)

BUT Leviticus 19:26-28 is addressed to the congregation at large and the context is now refraining from superstitious pagan practices (witchcraft):

“You shall not eat anything with the blood, nor shall you practice divination or soothsaying. You shall not shave around the sides of your head, nor shall you disfigure the edges of your beard. You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead , nor tattoo any marks on you: I AM the LORD.” (Lev 19:26-28) (Notice it says “any marks” NOT “unless it’s an Israelite symbol or Scripture”.)

I think Matthew Henry would agree:

He writes that the passage is “A law against the superstitious usages of the heathen…. They must not make cuts or prints in their flesh for the dead; for the heathen did so to pacify their infernal deities.” (Matthew Henry Commentary)

This passage does not disallow men from trimming their hair or beards at all (as some lamely argue to support their notion that we do not need to heed this Scripture today), but does disallow them from cutting their hair or beards in the fashion of pagan religious rites. We should not look like the heathen. We are to be salt and light.

The problem is that many do not recognize pagan practices for what they are. Many Christians unknowingly wear symbols that are occultic and/or pagan. God says his people perish for lack of knowledge. Before you put some cryptic symbol on you, please know what it means! Many symbols that are used have pagan origins! We inadvertently advertise pagan concepts by wearing them.

But we have God’s Word on tattoos. God forbid tattoos specifically. Yes, it’s that simple.

People say, “That was then, this is now” or “That was in the Old Testament…” I ask you, should we profane the name of the LORD because it’s nowadays common and it’s an Old Testament prohibition? (Lev 19:12)

God says, “For I the LORD, I do not change…”

God has graciously provided Christ’s atonement for our sins in the New Covenant, so we’re no longer under the Old Covenant penalty of death for infractions of the Law. But the LORD hasn’t suddenly changed that He would now condone sin and pagan practices! Do you really think our freedom in Christ means we should emulate traditions of heathen men?

“Shall we continue in sin that grace should abound?….. do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin…. Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!” (Romans 6:1-15)

Which brings up a good question: Where exactly is sin defined? The Old Testament gives us the knowledge of what is sin. Murder is still sin. Stealing is still sin. Fornication, including homosexuality, despite some even so-called Christians trying to justify it, (Leviticus 18:22; Lev. 20:13) is still a sin. Abortion is still sin. Paganism is still sin.

We are under a new agreement/covenant with the LORD regarding coming into His Presence. We are under the blood of Christ and can come boldly before the throne through grace. HalleluYAH!

We are under a new agreement/covenant with the LORD regarding the judgment of our sins – they are all under the blood of Christ. Therefore, we are no longer stoned for sin. Christ took that punishment on the cross.

But the New Covenant does NOT change the nature of evil. The nature of sin still IS sin.

The point is that tattooing IS a pagan practice, and that we saints should “abstain from even the appearance of evil”. (1 Thes 5:22) “For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?” (2 Cor 6:14)

We’ve many military and others who have gotten tattoos, unaware of God’s instruction on the matter. They should not be scorned nor their have their heart judged because of past indiscretions. What’s done is done, and under the blood, but that is not justification for continuing to condone a pagan practice by the Church at large. I think perhaps this is the root reason why some Christians think this topic is a gray area: Because they know good Christian people who have tattoos. But this is the same reasoning that has brought the spirit of perversion into churches. We might know some “nice” people who are practicing homosexuality and we should love them. Certainly God loves them. Yes, God loves them, but He calls them to repentance! They need to be set free in Christ from this bondage!

The pulpits are not blameless because many fail, for whatever reasons including not wanting to offend anyone, to preach against the insidious nature of evil. And so pagan customs (rosaries, labyrinths, idols, secret societies, etc.) creep into the Church under the guise of popular culture. We need to welcome sinners with open arms, but say, “sin no more.” The fact that tattooing is becoming more accepted here only underlines the sad downward spiral of a once Scripturally-based western civilization plummeting back into paganism. It’s an example of “lawlessness leading to more lawlessness”. (Romans 6:19)

Tattooing has only relatively recently come back into mainstream America, along with much else as is eveidence of a moral decline. Sadly things have changed in America as we turn away from the Scriptures. In the fifties, perhaps there would not have even been much disagreement on the subject amongst believers. I have an old American Peoples Encyclopedia from the 1950’s. It states: “The custom [of tattooing] was formerly widespread, especially among primitive peoples….. Under the influence of civilization the custom tends to disappear…. figures represented are often of religious significance…” Now, there are tattoo parlors in suburbia!

One distinction of God’s people, the Israelites, was that they did NOT have tattoos because God had forbidden it! God wanted them and wants us to stand out from the heathen to His glory. We are a royal priesthood and our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost! He should shine through us! We are a holy, “set apart” people. Our distinction is precisely what will draw people to the Christ in us! When they ask, “Why don’t you….?” and we have a Godly reply! Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God! (Romans 10:17)

Therefore, Christians should NOT accept this or any other pagan religious customs (astrology, consulting mediums, etc.) that are expressly forbidden in the Word of God: “You shall not….tattoo any marks on you: I AM the LORD.” (Lev 19:28)

[See list of “abominable practices” in Deut 18:9-14] Should one really justify these practices for Christians today? God forbid! Then why would you justify tattoos?]

God is not a fuddy-duddy. He forbids pagan practices because they are harmful to us. They open doors to the demonic. We need to repent of any and all heathen practices and rid our homes of pagan religious objects. The Israelites lost the battle at Ai because of an “accursed thing” hidden in the camp! Joshua was not even aware of this infringement, yet they lost the battle. (Joshua 7:10-12)

Throughout my ministry, I have seen where the enemy has used “accursed things” to keep Christians from victorious living. Religious pagan objects can give the demons legal access into the lives and homes of Christians. Indeed, one of the things the Lord told me to do when I first became a Christian was to throw out the Buddhist paraphernalia! After obeying and filling my home with the praise of God, a demon which my young son had seen, left the premises!

One will argue, “We’re not under the Old Testament Law. We’re under grace.” Thank God, we are under grace! Grace changes the ramifications of sin for us but it does not make sin acceptable. It makes us sinful creatures acceptable!

We are under grace in that we are free FROM keeping outwardly the Old Testament rituals and feasts which were all prophetic of Christ. The OT rites have been fulfilled! We actually DO keep the OT feasts because Christ is the fulfillment of those feasts and we are in Him! The feasts were shadows. We keep the substance. (Heb 8:5-6; Heb 10:1) Everyday we celebrate Passover, because everyday Christ is our Passover feast! Everyday we celebrate the Sabbath rest – that the work was finished by Christ on the cross! In this, we are free and under grace! This freedom or release from the ceremonial law is specifically addressed in Acts 15, Galatians, and also Romans 14:5.

We are also under grace in that we are free FROM keeping outwardly the Old Testament dietary laws. The dietary laws were given to the Israelites for their benefit and protection. Those foods kept them healthy. Even today, a Kosher diet is recognized as healthful. But the necessity of adhering to the Mosaic dietary laws was expressly over-ridden in the New Testament in regards to one’s sanctification. (Acts 10:10-16) All food was made lawful to believers (with a few exceptions in Acts 15:29.)

Notice that basically, these freedoms in which the New Covenant changes our lifestyle are in removing OT requirements: observe the dietary laws, observe the holy days. We are free to walk in the Spirit, and when we walk in the Spirit, we are NOT sinning.

But we cannot say that we are free TO sin! Being under grace does NOT mean that we now have the freedom to practice pagan practices or witchcraft, no matter how commonplace they have become. Oh, yes, we have our free will still. But “free will” is different issue from “freedom in Christ”! We always have the free will to sin. That does NOT mean we have freedom in Christ to sin. When we sin, we are not acting in the Spirit of Christ, we are not walking in the Spirit. Therefore, “freedom in Christ to sin” is an oxymoronic statement. Sin is bondage and “sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.” (James 1:15)

No where in the New Testament is there given a new twist, a new version on moral issues. Morality does not change in the New Testament. Stealing is still stealing. Witchcraft and pagan practices are still unacceptable. Can you find somewhere where God now condones a heathen practice? Grace does NOT give us the freedom to practice immorality or witchcraft for in those practices there is an inherent bondage. Freedom in Christ cannot logically bring us into the bondage of sin! Unfortunately, leaders are not discerning evil and the nature of evil is to insert itself insidiously.

Oh, there’s no inherent bondage in a tattoo, you say. Just why did God forbid it? No bondage? Well, then try washing it off! You’re stuck with it! The only thing I want to be bound to is Christ!

“Christians should not barely consider what is in itself lawful to be done, but what is fit for them to do.” Matthew Henry Commentary on 1 Cor 6. It seems that the maxim “All things are lawful for me” was referring to all food was now lawful to eat (see context), NOT giving a license for sins of the flesh, as some were evidently misapplying it.

This maxim of “All things are lawful for me” was used by Paul, it seems, originally regarding food and was then misapplied by others to defend fornication and other ungodly acts. “All things are lawful” did NOT mean that fornication had become lawful. Nor does it mean that witchcraft is now lawful OR that pagan practices are now lawful!

Paul reiterates this abused maxim again in 1 Corinthians 10:23 in conclusion to a discussion on partaking at the table of demons. Yet he goes on to say, “I do not want you to have fellowship with demons….” (1 Cor 10:20)

How many tattoo artists/parlors are eating at the table of demons? Are they also etching satanic symbols? I saw a nice looking tattoo parlor in suburbia. It’s banner outside had a depiction of a skull and bones. Why are we letting our children run around with symbols of death? Have you noticed this trend, too: that our culture has been infused with these death symbols? God says to “Choose life!” Yet, I see nice Christian children running around with skulls on their t-shirts! Are we so undiscerning?

I re-read all of Galatians before beginning to write this article. It had been used as an argument against my position that, according to Scripture, God’s covenant people should NOT get tattooed. I was called a legalist, accused of being Pharisaical. “We have freedom in Christ according to Paul in Galatians”, they said in defense of tattoos. Again, we DO have freedom in Christ but that freedom IS NOT a license to sin.

Galatians is one of my very favorite books in the Bible. I love that Christ came to set us free and that we have freedom in Christ! But again, is not sin bondage? The freedom in Galatians IS not a freedom to practice pagan rites but the freedom FROM trying to earn our salvation.

Galatians is contextually refuting the argument that the ritual law, in particular circumcision, was needed for justification. Of course, we should NOT add anything to the gospel of grace! Thanks be to our merciful God that a tattoo will NOT keep you from the love of God, nor out of the Kingdom of God! (Note: However, the mark of the beast in Revelations, WILL! (Rev 14:11) Is our culture now being primed for the accepting of that mark?)

Speaking of Revelation, if we one interprets the freedom in Christ as freedom to do anything we want, then why does the LORD rebuke the churches in the book of Revelation? There is a consequence to following pagan practices. The church of Pergamum is told to repent from “eating food sacrificed to idols” and “sexual immorality”. (Rev 2:14) The church of Thyatira was warned against tolerating false teachers. (Rev 2:20) Sin is still sin. The moral laws have not changed.

So Galatians does NOT justify sin, but shows that our justification is in Christ alone!

Another argument was offered concerning God writing on us. God can write anything He wants on me! He’s God. But I don’t think these Scriptures refer at all to tattooing, but are metaphorical . God “writes” on our hearts. (Jer 31:33)

Christ will “write on him [overcomers] the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God”. Whatever this means, Christ is doing the writing and at that point we have glorified bodies. It cannot therefore justify a human being tattooing our human bodies which were made to be temples of the Holy Ghost!

The argument that Christ has a tattoo on his thigh (Rev 19:16) is a real stretch. Do you really think Christ returns on a white horse wearing a royal robe but His naked thigh is exposed so that you can see a tattoo? Would it not be more natural to understand this inscription is on His apparel which is on His thigh!? Christ is crowned and regally garbed in this vignette, not flaunting His naked thighs!

What would Jesus do? He ate with sinners. He was a friend of sinners. But Jesus did NOT behave like sinners! He only did what He saw the Father doing. So the question: “Should a Christian get a tattoo?”, I would have to conclude upon the Scriptures is “No!” If you have a different conviction after reading all this, please do not judge me a legalist. My heart is to keep the Church of God on the “straight and narrow” for Jesus did say that “broad was the way that leads to destruction.” (Matt 7:13-14) The Church must be Godly, not worldly. That was what I felt the Spirit told me specifically about tattoos. Tattoos are “worldly”. They will burn up.

“Each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.” (1 Cor 3:13-15)

Please do not come under condemnation reading this if you already have a tattoo. What’s done is done, and this is in no way to written to judge people’s hearts. Although if your tattoo is inherently demonic/satanic/vulgar, you may ask the LORD if He wants you to remove it.

However, please do not hold to your position merely because you want to justify yourself. We are justified in Christ! What you did in the past, you did in ignorance of the Scriptures concerning this, but now that you know, should you not now refrain from encouraging others in that pagan practice? Are you 100% certain that there is nothing wrong with getting a tattoo even though God expressly forbid it? “For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.” (Romans 14:23) I would point out that the faith that is referred to here is faith in the Word of God, not your own opinions. This Scripture does NOT say or imply, therefore, that whatever proceeds from what you believe to be true is NOT sin! Selah. Think on that for a bit! We often sin inadvertently, unintentionally, and in ignorance.

Finally, who you are in Christ is NOT determined by your past mistakes. I myself did far worse than getting a tattoo! You are a new creation in Christ! Thank God, all our sins are under the blood! Therefore, we are not under condemnation! There are probably many fine Christians out there with tattoos! But it does NOT justify the practice. Christians fall short, too. Far too often.

Please do come under the conviction that Christ wants to purify His Church from compromising pagan practices (Rev 2:20-21) and that He is changing us from glory to glory as we behold His face. (2 Cor 3:18) As we grow in Christ, things that once were acceptable in our lives, seem to fall by the wayside because we have found a more noble Way and as we learn more and more of what is pleasing to God. May we all become more Christ-like. May we seek to please Him and not man.

One more thought. I recently watched the 1981 movie “Chariots of Fire” about the 1924 Olympic winner Eric Liddell who would not run on Sundays because of his strong conviction that he set that day aside for the Lord. His refusal was publicized worldwide. That’s some Christian witness! Even the world took note. Would a movie had been made of him had he been like everyone else and not stood by his Christian convictions? By standing for his convictions he stood for Christ and stood out from among the crowd. Today we have an athlete Tim Tebow who stands out by bending his knee in prayer despite the ridicule hurled at him for it.

It is not looking like the world that gets the attention of the unbeliever. It is by standing out from the crowd in NOT looking and acting like the world. We are to be salt and light. We are to speak the “truth in love”. (Eph 4:15)

Civil discussion is welcome but please use Scripture in context to back up your opinion!

The Oldest Lie in the Book

Perhaps you’ve heard the cliché “the oldest lie in the book” referring sometimes to “the check’s in the mail” but “the oldest lie in the book” is literally in the Book of Beginnings, the book of Genesis. It is spoken by the “father of lies”, satan.

Satan’s opening line, posed as a question (Gen 3:1), sets up his intentional deception. “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?’” The question introduces doubt into paradise. The crafty devil proceeds to infer that God is a liar, contradicting the very word of the Lord God Almighty! (Gen 3:4-5) “You will not surely die,” speaks the serpent, “For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” Here the devil infers that God is holding back something ‘good’ from Adam and Eve, which is a tricky assault on the loving nature of God.

So do you feel God is holding back something ‘good’ from you? Do you feel He doesn’t really love you because your life is in a shambles? Then, you my friend, as the rest of humanity to one degree or another, have bought a lie from the pit of hell!

The truth is “God is love”! (1 John 4:8) The truth is “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…” (John 3:16) The truth is God has so much for you (John 10:10) but you are refusing it by refusing to believe in His perfect love! You see, if you allow the devil to steal the truth from you by believing his lie, you are in fact rejecting the truth! The devil cheated Adam and Eve out of paradise.

What is the devil stealing from you?

The truth is God offers the precious gift of eternal life to all who believe that through the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross and His resurrection, we now have access to the Eternal Father of Life. (John 1:12) (Heb 4:16) But if you don’t believe that, you won’t approach the throne of grace!

The truth is “He who did not spare His own Son [Jesus Christ], but delivered Him up for us all [on the cross], how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” The truth is “Every good and perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights.” (James 1:17)

So do you want the good from the Father of lights or the trash the “father of lies” peddles?

God offered the “Tree of Life” in the garden. The liar tempted them to choose the forbidden fruit from the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil”. Choosing fruit from the wrong tree brought spiritual death, spiritual separation from their Creator. Today Christ again offers us the “Tree of Life”, but the devil is still trying to get us to choose forbidden fruit over the expressed will of God, to keep us separated from God, from the “Tree of Life”. Which tree do you choose? If you choose wrongly, why do you blame God? His will is clearly made known in the Bible.

God offers eternal life in His Kingdom of light and love. The liar offers nothing but momentary, fleeting carnal pleasures and would not even offer that if it weren’t an enticement to lure you into sin. The devil hates you!

But God loves you! Do you believe that? Or do you believe what a liar is whispering, “God doesn’t love you because He is withholding (fill in the blank) from you!”

The truth is God has a perfect plan for your life. Have you received that perfect plan or are you choosing your imperfect, faulty will? Do you really think you know better than God Almighty? Are you saying in fact “Has God indeed said?” and questioning His Word, justifying your sin with “Well, God didn’t really mean that…”

THE TRUTH vs the lie

Let’s remove the questions, the doubt, the confusion that the liar seeks to inject.

Yes, God indeed HAS said NOT to even dabble in witchcraft and astrology. (Deu 18:10-12) Do fortunetellers and astrology columns hold more allure for you than the Holy Word of God? Repent!

Yes, God indeed HAS said NOT to bow down to idols but you have an altar to Mary, some saint, or Buddha, giving a deceiving spirit legal domain in your life. The word of God says “Those who regard worthless idols forsake their own mercy…Salvation is of the Lord!” (Jonah 2:8-9) (Deu 7:26) Throw out your idols! (1 John 5:21)

Yes, God indeed HAS said that intimate relationships outside the sanctity of marriage are sinful. (1 Cor 6:13-18) But the lie is hyped in pop culture and media with lines like this: “This can’t be wrong when it feels so right.” Following that lie may have brought some momentary pleasure but the rotten fruit is mistrust, broken relationships, a loss of purity, possible disease, and wrecked relationships. Yet God offers the best: joyful intimacy in marriage. The devil offers meaningless sex.

Yes, God indeed HAS said that homosexuality is an abomination! (Lev 18:22-23) (Rom 1:27-28) The liar has an intensive PR campaign going to confuse the issue. Why is this an area that the enemy wants to confuse? For starters, it’ll keep you out of heaven! There are NO homosexuals in the Kingdom of God! (Rev 22:15) You can never be who God really made you to be, if you are living in this perverse lifestyle. There is a demonic spirit of perversion that propagates this abomination. Cry out to God to forgive you and deliver you and reveal to you who He created you to be in Christ! Otherwise, the devil has robbed you of your destiny!

Yes, God indeed HAS said there is ONLY ONE WAY to return back into right relationship with your Creator. (John 3:18) (John 14:6) (Rom 8:9) (Acts 4:10-12) Neither Mohammed, nor allah, nor Mary, nor buddha can give you eternal life with the Father. Jesus Christ is truly the ONLY WAY! And that truth flies in the face of the popular sentiment of “I’m okay, you’re okay’. If you do not receive the forgiveness which Christ purchased for you on Calvary, you’re not okay! You are not pure before a perfect God! That’s the bad news. But you don’t have to stay in your sorry condition. You have the choice! The good news, the gospel, is that Jesus Christ’s shed blood paid for your salvation and sanctification and healing! Now stop doing it your damning way. It really hasn’t worked so far so why do you continue on your destructive path? (The number one tune in hell just might be, “I did it my way!”) Do it God’s way. Believe in Jesus Christ and proclaim with your mouth, “Jesus Christ is Lord!” (Roman 10:9-11)

Recently I spoke with someone who asked me how I knew the gospel of Jesus Christ was true. I responded passionately, “He is the Truth!” When you encounter Jesus Christ, you face the Truth itself. So do you really want to know the Truth? If yes, great because God Himself wants you to know the Truth, His Son Jesus Christ. Therefore, if you are sincere in a prayer to God to reveal the truth to you, He will do so. Seek the Lord with all your heart. Read the Book of John in the Bible.  (John 1) The Lord will meet you there.

How A Tyrant Rises to Power

“Be wise as serpents…”  Matthew 10:16

Not only does the Word give us guidance as to how to live righteously but it also gives us insight as to how evil operates. I suspect this is in the hope that we should avoid coming under the rule of unrighteous men. In Judges 9, we read how the tyrant Abimelech rose to power:

  • Firstly, “he had no call of God to this honour …” (Matthew Henry Commentary) He was a usurper.
  • “None would have dreamed of making such a one king, if he had not dreamed of it himself” (Matthew Henry Commentary)

  • He appeals to them on the basis of ethnicity: “I am your bone and your flesh.” (Judges 9:2)
  • He eradicates his potential competition. He slew his brothers, seventy men! (Judges 9:5)
  • The city he first approached to gain followers was a strategic city, Shechem being an influential city. Yet, many of the citizens of Shechem were themselves unrighteous, thieving men (Judges 9:25).
  • He got money out of them, having persuaded them of their advantage: “Which is better for you…?” (Judges 9:2)

  • He hired soldiers from the rift-raft of the land, ungodly men themselves. (Judges 9:4) Do righteous men knowingly fight for a tyrant?
  • Abimelech and his deluded followers did not heed the warnings of the righteous (Judges 9:7-20)

  • Strife is inevitable among the ungodly. So, dissent arose between the unholy citizens of Shechem and Abimelech. Evil is intrinsically selfish and self-centered and so the unrighteous can never truly trust those with whom they have surrounded themselves. We’ve all seen this played out, how the robber kills his accomplice to get more of the loot. So, here also we see this played out. (Judges 9:23-25)
  • Evil will eventually be judged.  Abimelech’s demise came through the boldness of a woman defending her town. (Judges 9:53)   God uses the “weak” things of the world to accomplish deliverance.   (Remember Deborah and Jael? Judges 4)

The good news is that evil is inevitably doomed to destruction (Revelation 20:12-14).  Nonetheless, we would be wise to not allow evil to rule over us in the first place. Therefore, let us teach our children the full counsel of God including how to spot usurpers, tyrants, antichrists and deceivers that we may live in peace under righteous leaders who have a heart for justice and are submitted themselves to the God of Abraham, the Great I AM, YHWH, Yahshua, Jesus Christ!

unholy trinity

Satan doesn’t have a creative bone in him.  He is an imitator, but when he imitates he perverts. Revelation 13 and Rev 20:2 reveal the corrupt alliance of dragon, beast, and false prophet which tries to imitate the Holy Trinity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

While we may not fathom the depths of holy relationship in the One Triune God, we know that the Father is the authority figure and that the obedient Son carries out the actions of the Father through the empowerment of the Spirit. The cosmos was thus created. Salvation was thus imparted to mankind. The Church exists thusly. The Father is the heavenly manifestation of the Great Triune I Am; Yeshua (Jesus Christ) is His Arm (metaphorically speaking) that extends into a physical plane; and the Spirit is His Presence permeating the hearts and minds of His saints. The three are one.

Satan was not a triune creation, to my understanding, lacking a body for this earthly plane. In order to operate here, he needs a body. In Eden, it was a serpent. Usually, it is a man who has a similar desire to Satan’s: to be like the Most High. So they work in an unholy alliance. Satan is the authority figure while the obedient beasts or antichrists carry out the actions of the devil through the empowerment of an indwelling evil spirit, particularly with the aid of false prophets and false religious beliefs. This is how Satan has operated on earth throughout history. Pharaoh had his magicians. Hitler had his satanists and occultists. All were doing the will of Satan. The “beast” kingdoms throughout the centuries were thus devised: Satan behind the despot with the cooperation of the occult and/or false belief systems. The false belief systems are crucial to get the support of the masses of mesmerized people. The last scenario set forth in Revelation will be the last desperate stand of the unholy trinity. But they are all defeated and eventually “cast into the lake of fire” and so will be banished forever.

That which is portrayed in Revelation has had relevance for all time periods in terms of discerning “beast” empires, their modus operandi and their eventual overthrow, yet there remains to be fulfilled in this temporal realm that final big rebellion against the Most High which will end triumphantly with the Second Coming of Jesus Christ!

The Kingdom of Our Lord Jesus Christ is the everlasting kingdom of joy and peace and righteousness!

Portrait of the Antichrist

“Little children, these are the end times, and as you heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen. By this we know that it is the final hour.”  1 John 2:18

Do you think you can spot an antichrist spirit?  If you know the real Jesus Christ, you should be able to discern the counterfeit!

That being said, here’s a compilation of the passages many scholars believe give insight into an antichrist type.

There have been and there are many “antichrists” who may exhibit all or some of these traits to varying degrees.   Certainly, they are all deceivers!  (A guy living near Houston claimed to be the second coming of Christ and had a following of over a million duped souls!)  However, I reckon THE final Antichrist, the one who comes on the scene just prior to Christ’s return, will have ALL the traits listed.

from Daniel 7:25

  • “He shall speak pompous words against the Most High” (blasphemous)
  • “shall wear out the saints of the Most High” (persistent persecution from every side?)
  • “he shall think to change the times and the law”  (Maybe he’ll want to get rid of the “year of Our Lord” or “AD” ref?)
  • will persecute the saints:  “and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time.”

GOOD NEWS: his power will be taken away (v 26)

Antiochus IV Epiphanes

Jesus Christ used Daniel’s  reference to the “abomination of desolations” (Daniel 11:31)  in Matthew 24:15 , indicating  that the prophecy would have an ultimate fulfillment other than the now obvious, partial fulfillment in the historical personage of Antiochus IV Epiphanes.  While Jesus’ particular “abomination” prophecy also had a verifying and specific fulfillment in 70 AD, it was only partial in that the latter part of the prophecy, Christ’s return, has not yet been fulfilled.   The “abomination” is one of the signs that will indicate Christ’s soon return.  The two are linked in the Matthew passage and also in 2 Thessalonians 2:4.  Obviously, Christ hasn’t come back yet, therefore expect another “abomination of desolations” prior to His Coming as well as signs in the heavens.

Daniel 8:9-12

  • he opposes the daily sacrifice (historically, offerings in the temple but spititually, since the Church is now the temple, could this mean prayer? or the atonement of Christ?  or all of the above?)

Daniel 8:23-25

  • “a king of fierce face” OR “stern-faced”
  • “understanding dark sentences”  OR “master of intrigue” OR “sinister schemes” (various translations )
  • “His power shall be mighty, but not by his own power”  (By whose power, then?  Satan’s! )
  • “he shall destroy astoundingly”
  • “and shall prosper and do his pleasure” (as opposed to praying, “Our Father..Thy will be done.”)
  • “he shall destroy the mighty ones and the holy people.”  (being Anti-Christ, He is both anti-Christian and anti-Jew)
  • “Through his policy he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand”  (“craft” could include fraud, deceit, witchcraft, etc.)
  • “and he shall magnify himself in his heart”   Arrogance!
  • “in their security shall he destroy many”  (“Peace, peace… then sudden destruction.  See 1 Thessalonians 5:3 )
  • “he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.”

Historically, Antiochus IV Epiphanes took his power illegally – he was not heir to the throne.  He was a usurper.  He had people call him the Greek equivalent to “God Manifest”!  These, therefore, may also be indications of THE Antichrist:

  • by deception or illegal means, he comes to power
  • he is a usurper (illegally gains position)
  • he’ll claim to be “God”  (Do not the New Age thinkers think themselves gods?  Do not the Mormons aspire to become gods?  Do not atheist make themselves their own god when they deny the Creator King?  Have not many ceasars and emperors claimed deity?)

Antiochus also wanted the Jews to be Hellenized and forget their holy traditions.  Therefore, it seems that

  • the Antichrist will most likely want Christians and Jews to be secularized and forget their Godly heritage.

Daniel 11:21-39

  • “a contemptible” or “vile person”  (at least to the Godly)
  • “to whom they had not given the honor of the kingdom”  (again, he got his power illegally)
  • “but he shall come in time of security, and shall obtain the kingdom by flatteries.”  (quite the charmer?)
  • “After the treaty made with him he shall work deceitfully; for he shall come up, and shall become strong, with a small people.” (not to be trusted)
  • “In time of security shall he come even on the fattest [richest]places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers’ fathers;
  • he shall scatter among them prey, and spoil, and substance: yes, he shall devise his devices against the strongholds, even for a time.  (He’ll redistribute the plundered wealth among his supporters.)
  • “he shall devise his devices against the strongholds, even for a time.”
  • “they shall speak lies at one table: but it shall not prosper; for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.”
  • “his heart shall be against the holy covenant”
  • “he shall do his pleasure”
  • “have regard to those who forsake the holy covenant”
  • His army “shall take away the continual burnt offering” (Thought: A Christian’s “offering” or “sweet-smeling sacrifice” is prayer/praise.)
  • and they will “set up the abomination that makes desolate” (defiles the temple which causes it to become desolate – without the Presence of God)
  • He will pervert by flatteries those who will violate the covenant

Let me interject the GOOD NEWS here: “but the people who know their God shall be strong, and do exploits . Those who are wise among the people shall instruct many; yet they shall fall by the sword and by flame, by captivity and by spoil, many days. Now when they shall fall, they shall be helped with a little help; but many shall join themselves to them with flatteries. Some of those who are wise shall fall, to refine them, and to purify, and to make them white, even to the time of the end; because it is yet for the time appointed.”

meanwhile, the Antichrist…

  • shall do according to his will (v. 36)
  • and he shall exalt himself,
  • and magnify himself above every god,
  • and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods;
  • and he shall prosper until the indignation be accomplished
  • neither shall he regard the gods of his fathers
  • nor [have/regard] the desire of women  (There’s debate about just what this means.  Will he be a homosexual?  Will he limit childbearing – a great desire of women?)
  • nor regard any god; for he shall magnify himself above all.  (What arrogance!)
  • But in his place shall he honor the god of fortresses (He worships power?)
  • and a god whom his fathers didn’t know shall he honor with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.
  • He shall deal with the strongest fortresses by the help of a foreign god:  (supernatural, satanic power)
  • whoever acknowledges him he will increase with glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many,
  • and shall divide the land (Israel?) for a price.

Revelation 13:3

  • “One of his heads looked like it had been wounded fatally. His fatal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled at the beast.”

2 Thessalonians 2:3-9

  • the man of sin, the son of destruction
  • opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped
  • so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God.
  • has “the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders”
  • “with all deception of wickedness for those who are being lost, because they didn’t receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.”

Matthew 24:15-23

  • will make appearances
  • show great signs and wonders

Other relevant Scriptures

1 John 2:22

  • Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.

1 John 4:3

  • and every spirit who doesn’t confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God, and this is the spirit of the Antichrist, of whom you have heard that it comes. Now it is in the world already.

2 John 1:7

  • For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who don’t confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the Antichrist.
I hope this has been helpful in knowing what to look out for!  It’s more important to know what the Scriptures say than to have our own (or someone else’s)  “vain imaginations”.  Most of all, keep looking to Jesus!  He’s Our Blessed Hope!
