The Third Day Church

AfterTwoDays3 copy

2 Peter 3

“3 knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. 4 They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5 For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, 6 and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. 7 But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.

11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn!

13 But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.”

I’m putting this up for discussion as the movie “Left Behind” is released.   As I read the Scriptures, straight from the Word of God, I can’t see how the popular timeline that Christians are out of here BEFORE the tribulation is validated by Scripture.   How do we get around these Scriptures?   Someone PLEASE give me a Scripture that shows absolutely something different, please if you can.   Popular opinion is not infallible.  The Scripture is infallible.  The Scripture is truth.  I’m not looking for any arguments but would just like a Scripture as I have provided the Scriptures here:

SCRIPTURE: “For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep [died]. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”  (1 Thessalonians 4:15-18)

SCRIPTURE:  “But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when He comes, those who belong to Him.” (1 Cor 15:23)

BELIEVERS RISE (resurrected)

SCRIPTURE:  “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.”  (1 Cor 15:52)

THEN OTHER BELIEVERS RISE (“be changed”/rapture)

SCRIPTURE:  “1Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers, 2not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. 3Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.” (2 Thess 2)

MAN OF LAWLESSNESS REVEALED (abomination of desolation),

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 24

Putting all these Scripture together, this is what seems plain:

tribulation THEN

antichrist revealed (abomination of desolation)  THEN

great tribulation  THEN

Christ returns with trumpet blast  THEN

the dead in christ THEN

we who are alive  THEN

So shall we ever be with the LORD!   HalleluYAH!

Psalm 2:1-6

Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
“Let us burst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”

He Who sits in the heavens laughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.
Then He will speak to them in His wrath,
and terrify them in His fury, saying,
“As for Me, I have set My King
on Zion, My holy hill.”

So the liberals and the liberal media are gloating over their supposed victory – an election bought with corruption, fraud, bribes, and propaganda.

He Who sits in the Heavens laughs!

I had a flashback this morning to the movie “The Passion”.   In the scene where Jesus was carrying the cross, Satan walked behind the crowd sneering and gloating because he thought that he had triumphed by his own crafty devices over the Anointed One.   Jesus was beaten, bloody and on His way to a horrid crucifixion.    But in reality, the cross was the necessary path to victory – victory not for the devil but for God and mankind!  Here, in weakness and death to self was birthed the victory!  The Lamb was to be slain, but He was slain from the foundations.  It had always been the Father’s plan.

So the unrepentant lawless ones are gloating.   They have and will continue to shake their fists at God Almighty right up until they are banished to hell.   But Jesus WILL come again, this time in majesty to deliver His Covenant People and to judge evil.  That’s been the Father’s plan all along.  Jesus will then separate the goats from His sheep.  (Matt 25:31-33)

Just as there are two flocks in the world, one of sheep and one of goats, there are two Israels: one God’s covenant people of faith in the Messiah and the other a counterfeit, “a synagogue of Satan”, “who say that they are Jews but are not”.  (Rev 2:9)

This last election drives home the fact that there are also two Americas. One is that of God-fearing people submitted to their Creator and His laws.   The other is lawless Babylon with the elite godless usurpers lording over slaves who sold their souls for cheap tokens and empty promises.

I believe God will deliver and “keep” His people in God-fearing heartland America on the basis of His faithfulness and His Word (Rev 3:10).

On the other hand, that left hand,  Babylon can only expect judgment.

We are living through the book of Revelation, and things are escalating.  The hurricane of God’s judgment is upon the earth.  We can be devastated or ride out the storm within the calmness of the eye.  God says, “Come out of her [Babylon] my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues.”  (Rev. 18:4)  Come out of the dead, idolatrous “churches” preaching false “doctrines of man” instead of the Word of God; pull your  children out of the socialist schools; and pull your money, as much as is possible, out of banks and businesses that are supporting iniquity and a godless system.

Fill your lamps with oil – that means get filled with the Holy Spirit!    (Matt 25:1-13)  Help God’s persecuted people.  (Matt 25:35-40) Bless the Israel of God.  Read Matthew 24 and 25.   Read the book of Revelation.  Read this also:

The goats are doomed.  The Good News is that Jesus invites you to follow Him.  All it takes to be a sheep is a willing heart to trust and follow the Good Shepherd.  Jesus Christ is the King of Kings and the ONLY Savior of this world!   Cry out to Him before it is too late!

War of the Worlds

There is a war going on out there, OUTSIDE.  Bill O’Reilly calls it the “culture war,” and that is a factor. (Pun intended.)  But the war is HUGE, a matter of life and death.  It is a war for the souls of men.  It is a War of the Worlds.  The war is raging throughout the earth because the earth is the last battleground.   But this war has an ending, and we can know who wins. (Read Revelation)  The final battle  will determine the outcome, but the outcome has already been determined by the only One who can win.

For now, the two kingdoms are clashing.  But the “domain of darkness” will soon be overcome by the Kingdom of Light. (Col 1:12-13)  Light always forces out darkness.  God spoke, then light appeared.  This very God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of the Holy Bible, the ONE TRUE God whose name is YHWH, YAHshua, Jesus Christ,  He reigns now and forever!  His Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom!  Jesus Christ is LORD!  Our prayer should be His prayer, “Thy Kingdom come!  Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”  (Matt 6:10)  Sadly, the world is, for the most part, in rebellion to their Creator, the King of the Universe.  God’s will will be done on the earth. The Kingdom of Light, His dominion reigns!

The LORD, has defined His Kingdom as one “of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”  (Romans 14:17)  Sounds like a perfect place!  Do you anticipate heaven’s perfect reign on the earth?  Will you be a part of His righteous kingdom?  Will you enjoy its peace?  Will you enter it’s joy?

More to come….

Look at the sky above the church in the artwork I did for Eastgate Ministries JUBILEE brochure this year. There is a horse in the clouds! This horse was not placed intentionally there but came out in the computerized rendering of the photograph. It reminds me of the Scripture:

“Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The One sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.” (Rev 19:11)

On January 10th of this year of Our LORD 2012, I saw a vision of a white horse breaking through the darkness. I knew the horse indicated “Perazim” or breakthrough. (1 Chr 14:11)

Pastor Carolyn Sissom has been speaking of the horse in Zechariah:

“And on that day there shall be inscribed on the bells of the horses, “Holy to the LORD.” (Zech 14:20)

A few weeks ago, (June 8th), my family watched the fairly recent movie “War Horse“. The war horse seemed to be almost supernaturally protected. But the war horse got entangled. How the war horse came to be released was through an act of extreme courage motivated by compassion!

On June 18th, we watched the movie “Secretariat”, the story of the Triple Crown winner. This amazing horse’s winning enabled the family not to lose their inheritance! “Secretariat” was one of the all-time great thoroughbreds, ranking second only to “Man o’ War”!

That same day, I received an email from Aglow, a Christian women’s ministry. Their regional conference this year is entitled “Arise, Warhorse!” The horse in their brochure artwork is similar to what I saw in the spirit in January, including the colors in the background.

Isn’t it wonderful how God is speaking the same thing to people in different places at the same time? He is, afterall, Commander-in-Chief of the Army of God!

The War Horse Rides On!

On 6/26, Pastor Sissom referenced Isaiah 28:21 which also mentions “Perazim”, speaking on Revelation 6.

Today (6/27/12) I went to a senior community where I’ve been ministering regularly. As I approached the elevator, I noticed a cart sitting right by the door. No one was there but a silver object attracted my attention as it was reminiscent of the Ark of the Covenant. While I was studying it, a lady whom I had never met before, walked up to me and asked me if I wanted the pretty object. These were things that had belonged to her recently deceased husband and she was giving them away. I thanked her and then she pulled out something else. I gasped! It was a glass horse. She pulled out another one. She asked me if I wanted this pair of beautiful horse sculptures, too. Oh, yes! I thanked her excitedly and told her how I knew this was a special gift from the LORD to me in light of all He’s been showing me. Can you believe a perfect stranger giving me such a perfect gift?! It was definitely a God-thing! The LORD is so good to me!

A Blessed Pesach

Today is Passover. Last night was Good Friday and the start of Passover. Last night Jews and Christians around the world were honoring YHWH who saves!

This morning, I opened my Bible and my eyes fell on Ezekiel 37:13 :

“Then you shall know that I AM the LORD when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves…”

Was Paul thinking of Ezekiel 37 when he wrote “And so all Israel will be saved….”? (Romans 11:26)

Indeed, the Lord’s words in the passage above are preceded with, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel.” (Eze 37:11) Think of that!

Then the words continue: “They [the whole house of Israel] indeed say, ‘Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off!’”

So there is seen here that the whole house of Israel will confess their hopelessness! Is it not when we come to the end of our own strength and find ourselves lacking that we confess our hopelessness and turn to the LORD who can with His breath breathe new life into a situation?  And so He will – for the whole house of Israel!” HalleluYAH!

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they be secure who love you!” (Psalm 122:6)

Eleven Points on How to Be Hidden through Impending Judgment

Perhaps the Book of the Prophet Zephaniah is skipped over by some who would rather not hear its proclamations of judgment: judgment on Judah (Zeph 1); judgment on the Gentile nations (Zeph 2:4-15); judgement on Jerusalem (Zeph 3:1-7); judgment on the nations: “All the earth shall be devoured with the fire of My jealousy.” (Zeph 3:8). Gloom and doom is decidedly forecast.*

However, while judgment is the theme of Zephaniah, it is not the theme of this essay. This theme is how to be hidden through the judgment. Zephaniah holds hidden treasures beyond the reach of the gloom and doom. Indeed, the name “Zephaniah” means “the LORD hides”. That’s very comforting in times of disaster. Wouldn’t you be grateful if you were hidden through disasters? Wouldn’t you be praising the LORD had He by His divine Providence kept you away from the World Trade Center through unusual circumstances as He did for so many on 9-11?

Zephaniah tells us how to be hidden through disastrous times. “It may be that you will be hidden in the Day of the LORD’s anger.” (Zeph 2:3) For a believing Christian, Colossians 3:3 reads that “your life is hidden with Christ in God.” That’s why the devil can’t touch your eternal spirit. It’s hidden in Christ where the enemy has NO access! HalleluYAH1 On the other hand, we might through disobedience give the devil opportunity to mess with our souls (mind, will and emotion) and bodies. The Colossians passage goes on to tell us to “put to death” (Col 3:5) those tendencies that would give the devil a foothold. (James 4:7) (Eph 4:27)

Chriistians are “not appointed to wrath” (1 Thess 5:9) referring to some horrid judgments of Revelation, but nonetheless there are tough times ahead for all. So what keys does Zephaniah give us as to being hidden through troublesome times ahead?

Eleven Points for being Hidden through Impending Judgment

1. Seek the LORD

2. Inquire of the LORD

3. Be silent in the Presence of the LORD (Zeph 1:7)

4. Don’t be complacent (Zeph 1:12)

5. Don’t think that the LORD is aloof or apathetic (Zeph 1:12)

6. Don’t rely on riches for deliverance (Zeph 1:18)

7. Uphold justice (Zeph 2:3)

8. Seek righteousness (Zeph 2:3)

9. Seek humility (Zeph 2:3)

10. Don’t curse Israel (Zeph 2:10)

11. Intercede!!!! (Zeph 3:18-20)

Points number one through three, are actions not being done by Judah and are cited as reasons for the judgment. Judah has turned from the LORD. They are not seeking nor inquiring of the LORD.

We need to seek the LORD daily to learn to recognize His voice. It is crucial to know the LORD’s voice so that we clearly hear from Him, especially during crucial times.

Many a battle has been lost because of failure to consult the LORD. King Ahaziah died because he did not inquire of the LORD, but instead inquired of another god. (2 Kings 2:16) On the other hand, King David had a godly habit of inquiring of the LORD before decisions. In times of crisis, it is even more crucial to ask the LORD, “What do I do now?” Much pain and suffering on the part of the saints could be avoided would we only consult with the LORD before taking a course of action.

In the days to come, it will become more and more critical for us to consult the LORD. Sadly, even Christians listen more to other voices than to the voice of their Father. But if you want to be hid, you will need to hear His voice telling you which way to turn.

Many of us fail to listen and sit quietly before the LORD to wait upon His voice, His guidance, His heart. Even if we don’t have a specific inquiry at the time, the LORD can warn us of snares ahead of which we are unaware.

In this list of eleven, there are seven “do’s” and four “don’ts”. This first “don’t” cautions against complacency, against “lukewarmness”, against apathy. You might NOT be hidden from judgment if you are hiding in front of the television or in your own little world all the time. Will you be prepared for trouble, if you have the attitude that you need only concern yourself with your own life?

“First they came for the communists,

and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,

and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,

and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Jew.

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.”

(Attributed to Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) concerning apathy towards the Nazis.)

Some think the LORD created the world and then left it to its own devices. They don’t believe in a God who interacts with His creation. They think we need to fend for ourselves. Their unbelief in a caring Father cuts them off from the grace and mercies of God available through faith!

Some say the LORD will not “do good” – in other words, the LORD won’t help us through. Therefore, they don’t turn to Him for help.

Some say the LORD will not “do evil” – in other words, “God wouldn’t send an earthquake in judgment. God is love.” I hear this a lot even from leaders in the church. They say that since we’re “under grace” now, that all these current disasters have nothing to do with the judgment of God. “God is love”, they opine. Yes, God is love. But a loving Father does discipline those He loves. (Heb 12:5-11) Love does not neglect to give a warning before the Final Eternal Judgment. In His mercy, He has provided the warnings and signs that Jesus spoke of in His Olivet discourse. (Matt 24; Mark 13; Luke 21) God will not allow evil to forever run rampant because sin brings death and destruction. Though He is extremely patient, “not willing for anyone to perish,” (2 Peter 3:9) there is an end to evil. That is good news for those who would live righteously in peace!

If you still think God does not judge in our days of grace, have you read the Scriptures for yourself? Or have you only had your ears tickled by politically-correct speakers? (Can one rightly call them pastors if they don’t warn against the wolves in sheep’s clothing?) There are plenty of instances of judgment in the New Testament. Ananias and Sapphira were struck dead for lying “to the Holy Spirit” (Acts 5:1-5) Herod was struck dead “because he did not give glory to God.” (Acts 12:20-23)

If that’s not enough for you to see that God can in our days of grace bring severe judgment, then listen to His rebukes to the churches in the Book of Revelation:

  • “or else I am coming to you swiftly, and will move your lampstand out of its place, unless you repent.” (Rev 2:5)

  • “Repent therefore, or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of my mouth.” (Rev 2:16)

  • “If therefore you won’t watch, I will come as a thief, and you won’t know what hour I will come upon you.” (Rev 3:3)

  • “So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of my mouth.” (Rev 3:16)

Perhaps the strongest warning is that to the compromising church in Thyatira:

  • “Behold, I will throw her into a bed, and those who commit adultery with her into great oppression, unless they repent of her works. I will kill her children with Death, and all the assemblies will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.

    (Rev 2:22-23)

If you’re in a compromising church, may you seek the LORD for guidance because judgment will come to the churches! It is the Word of the LORD.

You may want to heed this warning:

Come out of her, my people,
lest you take part in her sins,
lest you share in her plagues”
(Rev 18:4)

God is calling His people out of the Babylonian captivity of the church to a place at His feet, listening to His voice and not the voice of those who would use and abuse God’s people for their own greed and empowerment. The warnings in Revelation show clearly to the wayward churches, that they will experience judgment from God in the last days.

The Good News? You can choose to be part of the faithful church of Philadelphia who are promised:

“Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.” (Rev 3:10)

That sounds a lot like Zephaniah’s word that “It may be that you will be hidden in the Day of the LORD’s anger.” (Zeph 2:3)

It also sounds like Psalm 27:5 : “For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; in the secret place of the tabernacle He shall hide me.”

If you don’t know where the “secret place” is, you had better find out before the “time of trouble” is upon us! Seek Him.

If you can’t rely on your riches (Zeph 1:18), then you had better be trusting the LORD! In times of trouble, God works miracles for His people. He can have a prophet strike a rock in the desert and water gushes forth! He can send manna from heaven. Don’t think that God won’t do it! (Point #5)

Seek the LORD (Point #1) whether or not you need to stockpile something. He may have some doing this, but others are called to something else. Only run with the pack, if the LORD told you to run with the pack. What does God want you to do in preparation? As the song goes. “Trust and obey, for there’s no other way…”

These three exhortations in Zephaniah 2:3 are echoes of the words of the Prophet Micah:

“He has told you, O man, what is good;

and what does the Lord require of you

but to do justice, and to love kindness,

and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8)

Judgment is pronounced on Moab and Ammon because “they have made arrogant threats against the people of the LORD of Hosts.” (Zeph 2:10) If you threaten God’s people (Israel or the Church), you are messing with the “apple of His eye” – not a smart thing to do.

For thus said the Lord of hosts,…. for he who touches you [Zion] touches the apple of His eye.” (Zech 2:8)

Indeed, the LORD said to Abraham, from the Book of Beginnings: “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. All of the families of the earth will be blessed in you.” (Gen 12:3)

Be very careful how you speak of God’s anointed people.

Those who sorrow over Israel, those who bear the burden to pray and intercede for Zion, have a promise that the LORD will “deal with all those who afflict” them, and a promise that the LORD will give them, in the end, “fame and praise among all the peoples of the earth.” Wow! (Zeph 3:18-20)

A duty of a priest is to make intercession before the throne of God on behalf of others. We, Christians have the great privilege to intercede. And our promise is that we shall “reign with Him’. (Rev 20:6)

So, Zephaniah closes on a note of hope – not with gloom and doom but with the glory of God in His overcoming saints! “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” (Rev 2:7)

Revelation Simplified

Revelation Ultra-Simplified

Jesus Christ returns, banishes Satan and evil, and reigns with His Saints forever!

Don’t be intimidated into not reading Revelation because of all its symbolisms or because it has a lot of disturbing predictions.  There’s also a promise of blessing to those who read, hear and keep “the words of this prophecy.”  (Rev 1:3)   Furthermore, it is the “Revelation of Jesus Christ”!   And to know Him more should be our goal.  (See previous blog “The Revelation of Jesus Christ”)  Additionally, there are numerous promises to which the saints can look forward!   Here are just a few:

Jesus Christ is revealed as the omnipotent King!

Evil is judged and banished forever! (Rev 20)

No curse, no death, no tears, no sorrow, no crying, no pain for the saints! (Rev 21)

The saints of God are rewarded!

The saints of God spend Eternity with God!

Revelation Simplified

St. John has a vision of the Lord Jesus Christ who then gives warnings, commendations and promises to the churches, words to heed, considering what will soon come to pass.  John is transported to heaven where he sees creatures and saints worshiping God.  Jesus Christ, as the sacrificial Lamb, alone is deemed worthy to open the scroll disclosing things to come.  The Savior holds history in His nail-scarred hands. He looses one by one the seals from the scroll, unleashing the judgments warranted by wickedness.   But first, those from the twelve tribes of Israel are sealed for protection from these coming plagues. Nonetheless, evil inherent in the beastly religious and political world systems (aka Babylon) has throughout time persecuted and killed God’s people and that persecution continues.  So John sees in heaven many white-robed saints from every tribe and nation who have died in that great and final tribulation.  Amid lightnings, thunders, and earthquakes, Jesus Christ opens the last seal and the “trumpet” judgments begin. Still the unrepentant cling to their idols, demons, witchcraft and sexual immorality. The even more dreadful “bowl” judgments, the “wrath of God”, are poured out on those with the mark of the beast, on those who will not turn to God Almighty.   Pompous Babylon falls.  Christ returns astride a white horse with the heavenly hosts to crush His enemies at Armageddon. “The dragon, that serpent of old” is defeated and thrown in the “bottomless pit” for “a thousand years”, after which he is released for a short time.   So Satan goes out again to make war against the saints.  This time, the devil is thrown into the “lake of fire” where he’s forever tormented.  And “anyone not found in the Book of Life is cast into the lake of fire.”   A new heaven and a new earth is established.  God dwells with His blessed people.  There is no more curse, no death, no tears, no sorrow, no crying, no pain for the saints!  Ultimately and everlastingly, Jesus Christ reigns with His saints.  Therefore, we pray, “Even so, come, Lord Jesus!”

Is your name written in the Lamb’s “Book of Life”?
